Rioja and the Swedish people have a long love story. We love the classic wine with the soft vanilla taste. But there is also a lot happening in Rioja, where new winemakers are testing the limits for what is allowed and old bodegas are thinking in new ways.
We wanted to draw attention to this by presenting several of the most experimental wines from Rioja. At an intimate event at our office, Rioja guru, Thomas Perry, spoke about the winds of change that are blowing through the region. Sweden’s wine elite - with both journalists and sommeliers - mingled and enjoyed the specially-prepared (and delicious) tapas offered by Stefan Eriksson, who was chef of the year in 2005 and in charge of the Nobel dinner in 2008.
